Franklin Templeton appointed Tariq Ahmad, head of the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) and Sandeep Singh, head of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) & India, as co-heads of the newly-created Global Official Institutions Group. Prudential appointed Rajeev Mittal as chief executive officer of Eastspring Investments. Mittal is based in Singapore and reports to Prudential CEO Anil Wadhwani. Mittal's appointment followed Bill Maldonado's decision to retire and return to the UK. Mittal, who has more than 30 years of asset management experience in Asia and Europe, most recently, served as managing director and head of Asia at Fidelity International. Lioner International Group, the insurance, trust and family office group, appointed Francis Tang as managing director, Hong Kong. Tang has more than 20 years’ experience in life insurance planning, with expertise in serving HNW clients. Previously, Tang was senior director at Charles Monat Associates, where he specialised in wealth management and insurance solutions. HSBC Global Private Banking (GPB) appointed Kapil Khanna as desk head for Australia, Japan and International. Based in Singapore, Khanna leads growth and client coverage strategy for these markets, reporting to Abhishek Mehrotra, market head, Southeast Asia International. Prior to this appointment, Khanna was head of international investment counselling at HSBC, serving in various leadership roles, including UHNW investment counsellor and cluster head, overseeing teams servicing clients across the region. Fiera Capital appointed Takafumi Sudo as chief operating officer and chief compliance officer of Japan, Fiera Capital (Asia). He reports to Ranulph Day, head of compliance EMEA and Asia, and CJ Morrell, head of Japan. The role is newly created. The Asian multi-family office, Peakhouse, has named Berry Wong as its group CEO and announced that it is expanding its Hong Kong office in the Standard Chartered Building in the Central area of the city. Wong has more than three decades’ industry experience; he was CEO, Asia-Pacific, at Charles Monat Associates, where he led the firm’s growth in mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. Before his Charles Monat tenure, Wong was regional head of wealth planning at BNP Paribas. He also was senior director, wealth planning, at HSBC. In his new berth, Wong leads the team across its three hubs of Hong Kong, Chengdu in China, and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Lion Global Investors, part of Singapore-based OCBC, appointed Seck Wai Kwong as its new chairman. Lion's previous chairman was Khor Hock Seng who was also the previous Great Eastern Group CEO; he retired on 31 October 2024. Seck Wai Kwong has more than 40 years of experience in the financial services sector. He retired as the CEO of Eastspring Investment Group in August 2023. Prior to Eastspring, he was CEO, Asia-Pacific, of State Street Bank and Trust Company from 2011 to 2019. He has also held senior positions in the Singapore Exchange, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, GIC, Lehman Brothers and DBS Bank. Howden, the global insurance intermediary group covering areas including private wealth, appointed Marut Pommalee as the new chief client officer for Thailand. Pommalee was managing director at Sabuy Maxi, a strategic joint venture which Howden set up in 2021. JP Morgan appointed Alex To as its vice chair for Asia-Pacific. In his new role, To reports to JP Morgan APAC chief executive Sjoerd Leenart. Prior to this, To was CEO of CDH Investments. Standard Chartered appointed Noelle Eder as group head for technology and operations. Eder, who reports to group CEO, Bill Winters, is based in Singapore. Before this, Eder worked at The Cigna Group, where she was the executive vice president and global chief information officer.
Citigroup appointed Prashant Thakker as head of its Asia South corporate bank. Thakker, who has been heading the capital management business for Japan, Asia North, and Australia and Asia South, relocated to Singapore.
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation appointed Joyce Tee as head of corporate banking department for Asia-Pacific. Tee, who is based in Singapore, succeeded Hideo Uchida, who moved to another leadership role in the SMBC Group after a handover period. Most recently, Tee was managing director and head of institutional banking group at DBS China. Previously, Tee served as group head of small- and medium-sized enterprise banking at DBS. She has also held senior positions at OCBC Bank and MetroBank NA USA.
Citi Australia and New Zealand appointed figures to its research and markets businesses, including Paul Buys as head of research for Australia and New Zealand. Buys joined from Canaccord Genuity, where he was research head. Before that, Buys was deputy head of Asia-Pacific Securities Research for Credit Suisse. Buys was slated to succeed the existing holder of the role, Paul McTaggart, who will be retiring at the end of the year after a 30-year career in sell-side research.
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, aka SMBC, appointed Luis Pereira as co-regional chief information officer for its Asia-Pacific division. Pereira succeeded Desmond Lee who left the bank. Pereira, who is based in Singapore, reports to Takashi Yamaguchi, head of governance planning department, Asia-Pacific division. Pereira also reports to Hideki Takamatsu, group CIO and Nobuyuki Takiguchi, group deputy CIO. Pereira was global CIO for wealth management and regional CIO for APAC.
WRISE Hong Kong appointed Joe C Lee as non-executive director of WRISE Prestige Hong Kong. Lee also serves as chairman of Renhe Holdings, chairman of Klover Insurtech, and is an advisor to many venture-backed startups.
Bank of Singapore appointed Emmanuel Bucaille as head of new product development. He is based in Singapore. For just under a year, he was senior managing director, regional head of wealth solutions for Asia, at Manulife Asset Management; he spent more than 24 years at UBS in various roles, for instance in Zurich.
Raffles Family Office appointed two senior figures in Singapore: Terence Seow, and Shaun Lim. Seow joined as managing director, board advisor and Lim was named as MD for relationship management.
Seow, who has more than 40 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry, has held senior positions at Citibank, DBS, Bank of Singapore and other major financial institutions. Lim has more than 25 years of experience advising UHNW individuals and their families across global financial centres. He most recently served as market head of the North Asia Team at RBC Wealth Management, and served in senior roles at Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, and Credit Suisse. He reports to Kendrick Lee, CEO of Singapore.
Amundi, the asset management group, appointed Jian Xiong as Asia insurance specialist. Jian Xong is based in Singapore and reports to Eddy Wong, CEO, Asia and Lawrence Wee, head of institutional sales, South Asia. Jian Xiong has more than 15 years of experience across the asset management, insurance, and banking sectors.
The Dubai-headquartered boutique financial firm, Klay, appointed former Deutsche Bank senior figure Cheryl Wong as chief operating officer in its Klay Singapore business. Wong has more than 30 years of experience across risk management, compliance, operational excellence, and transformation. Wong worked in roles such as that of chief operating officer at Deutsche Bank Wealth Management, and was head of compliance at BNP Paribas and Standard Chartered Bank.
Sydney-headquartered alternative asset manager MA Financial Group appointed Kit To as head of Asian distribution. To is based in Singapore. With more than 20 years of experience in asset management, To worked with institutional investors and intermediary clients in Asia and North America, covering asset classes across public and private markets. She previously served as head of Asia Pacific at private equity investing platform, Moonfare.
JP Morgan Asset Management appointed Stefania Vivarini as an ETF specialist for Australia to bolster its capabilities and distribution in the rapidly growing ETF market. Based in Sydney, Vivarini reports to Philippe El-Asmar, head of APAC ETF, digital and direct and locally to Mark Carlile, head of wholesale, Australia and New Zealand. Prior to this role, Vivarini served as a national key account manager at Vanguard Investments Australia, where she launched ETF-based separately managed accounts.
International law firm Simmons & Simmons appointed Jennifer Tam as partner in its employment and benefits practice in Hong Kong. Tam, who has 15 years’ specialist employment litigation and advisory experience, has worked in contentious employment, discrimination, harassment and data privacy.
FSSA Investment Managers, which operates in Singapore and Hong Kong, appointed two new investment analysts. Manya Mishra, who joined as an investment analyst focused on India equities, relocated from Mumbai to join the Singapore office. Mishra has 10 years of investment experience, most recently as a senior investment analyst at Arisaig Partners. Ziqi Deng joined as an investment analyst covering Asia and emerging markets, with a focus on China. Deng was previously a global emerging markets portfolio manager at Genesis in London, and at Matthews Asia in San Francisco.
Eastspring Investments appointed Salman Haider as head of ASEAN and chief executive officer of Eastspring Singapore, adding to his role as chief distribution officer.
Seviora Holdings, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore-based Temasek Holdings, the sovereign wealth fund, appointed Gabriel Lim as CEO designate. He will to take up the role of CEO on 1 September 2025. The existing CEO Jimmy Phoon retires on 31 August.
